Japanese Beef Bowls

This Japanese beef marinade is a favourite in our house and one we tend to do time and time again, especially for dinner parties and BBQs. A must try for your next dinner party! Just add some glasses of sake, good friends and you have an instant fab Japanese themed dinner party!

  1. 400 grams The Meat Club eye fillet steaks
  2. 2 cups cooked mixture of brown and wild rice
For the marinade
  1. ¼ cup sake
  2. 1 tsp sesame oil
  3. 1 red chilli, diced
  4. 1 clove crushed garlic
  5. 1 tbsp tamari
For the stir-fry veggies
  1. ½ chopped red chilli
  2. 1 clove garlic
  3. Handful snow peas
  4. 8 mushrooms
  5. 6 bok choy
  6. 2 tbsp sesame seeds
  7. 3 spring onions
  1. Marinate the steaks with sake, sesame oil, chilli, garlic and tamari for a minimum of 4 hours.
  2. Cook rice and set aside for serving.
  3. In a grill pan or BBQ, grill eye fillet for 2-3 minutes each side for medium rare and allow to rest for a further 2 minutes before slicing.
  4. While steaks are resting, quickly stir-fry veggies in a pan with chilli, garlic and a dash or tamari for flavor. Add sesame seeds.
  5. Serve with rice, sliced beef and stir-fry veggies, and garnish with spring onions.
